“Experience is something you don’t get until just after you need it.” – Steven Wright.
There are few things more valuable to an entrepreneur than being able to call upon experience to make decisions. This can be personal experience of similar situations, knowing how to deal with difficult predicaments, or having the knowhow to make the right call.
It can also mean surrounding yourself with mentors who have their own rich experiences, and can give good advice. In the end, your decisions are up to you – but being able to seek advice from people who have been there and done it is invaluable.
Nevertheless, most of us aren’t always able to call upon experience. I learn something new every day, and we’re all gaining new experience all the time.
In the meantime, you’ve just got to give it a go and whether you make the right decision or not, at least you are making progress and gaining that all-important experience.
To paraphrase Steven Wright once more: “The sooner you fall behind, the more time you’ll need to catch up.” So it’s time to start getting ahead!
